Businesses tend to be clustered around major metropolitan areas. In many cases those cities are close enough to two or three different states to give you a choice of where to live.

So let’s say you work in Philadelphia. Ideally, you could live in either Pennsylvania, New Jersey or Delaware.

But which one is best? In which state could you pay the least, but still enjoy the highest quality of life?

“Where you choose to live may save or cost you hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on mortgage payments and taxes every year,” says HSH.com VP Keith Gumbinger.

“While choosing a place to live also includes personal and logistical considerations, HSH.com provides individuals with quantifiable data that should be a part of that decision.”

Florida’s job growth will accelerate in the third year after the Great Recession, but not as dramatically as in the past two recessions, according to a report by Florida TaxWatch.

The red lines in the chart above show job growth in the third year after the 2001 and 1990-91 recessions.

“The expected 2 percent job growth, though far better than none at all, will fall noticeably short of previous recoveries,” the report said. “The unemployment rate will decline only gradually and the recovery will continue to be sluggish, even into its third year.”

The Manhattan office market continued on its road to recovery in Q2 with the overall vacancy rate falling to 12.7%, a slight 10 basis-point decline from the previous quarter, and asking rents rising to $48.64, a 1.9% increase from Q1.

Leasing activity was dominated by financial services and media companies, which accounted for 16 of the 20 largest leases completed during Q2. Two blockbuster deals were completed in the quarter, with Conde Nast signing a lease for 1 million SF to anchor the under-construction 1 World Trade Center, and Nomura moving from Downtown to 900,000 SF at 825 Eighth Avenue in Midtown.

With asking rents continuing to increase, tenants across all sectors are proactively evaluating their current space situation and entering the marketplace to assess alternative options before they are priced out of their desired property type and/or location.

Hey Zing fans

It’s National Dog Day and that means it’s a day Clay C. likes!

You see, Clay C. has three dogs he rescued from the hard, cold Detroit streets.

Grover, Aiden and Girly Girl.

That’s Girly Girl in the pic. She’s a pit bull who failed pit bull school. In other words, she’s really sensitive and afraid of a lot of things. Not very pit bullish.

I love dogs and therefore I love National Dog Day.

Just a reminder that there are millions of dogs out there that need a home. If you think you want a dog, check out great sites like Pet Finder. If you’re in the Detroit area, Home Fur Ever is a great group of people who help lots of dogs find good homes. And of cour Read Article…
