Many senior citizen homeowners are turning to a reverse mortgage to financially help them during their retirement years. Many of these people have lost their pensions, their investments are starting to dwindle and the price of food and everything else is steadily increasing. As a result, they are looking for ways to save money and a reverse mortgage is one major way they can do that.

Mortgage markets worsened last week as safe haven buying eased and demand for mortgage-backed bonds dropped. As in most weeks since March 2011, Greece and U.S. jobs dictated market direction.

Conforming mortgage rates in Florida rose last week, lifting rates off their all-time lows and causing consternation among the nations would-be buyers and refinancers.

Last weeks action may surprise you. After all, Freddie Macs weekly mortgage rate survey said average, 30-year fixed rate mortgages had dipped, dropping to 3.94% the first time the average rate reported sub-4 percent.

A keen eye, however, revealed the another truth.

Yes, the average 30-year fixed rate mortgage did go sub-4 percent, but, in order to get those rates, applicants were suddenly required to pay 0.8 discount points.

Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union has several branches in Tennessee with one being a mortgage center. They also have loan officers in several other locations.

According to National Credit Union Administration data, Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union originated almost $144 million in mortgages in 2009.

They are listed as active on the national registry and their primary regulator is the National Credit Union Administration.

Home values in the Minneapolis and St. Paul metro area have been on a steady upward climb over the past couple of months but are still about $10k below when compared with other metro areas around the nation.

On a month over month basis, Twin Cities home values have increased by just 0.1 percent.  Additionally, home values increased by 0.1 percent on a quarter over quarter basis in the metro area.  Although the short term increase is minimal it is still a sign that has many experts in the area believing we have hit the bottom of the housing market.

Hey Zing fans

It’s National Dog Day and that means it’s a day Clay C. likes!

You see, Clay C. has three dogs he rescued from the hard, cold Detroit streets.

Grover, Aiden and Girly Girl.

That’s Girly Girl in the pic. She’s a pit bull who failed pit bull school. In other words, she’s really sensitive and afraid of a lot of things. Not very pit bullish.

I love dogs and therefore I love National Dog Day.
